Our credentials - an overview
General
- The Sydney Clinical Skills and Simulation Centre complies with local policies in respect to staff conduct, privacy, occupational health and safety and equal opportunity as required by the respective governance frameworks of Northern Sydney Central Coast Area Health Service and the University of Sydney.
- All training provided by staff employed by the SCSSC use established learning methods and adheres to the principles of adult learning.
Instructors' certification
- Directors of each division have postgraduate degrees in medical education and have senior academic titles within the Sydney Medical School, University of Sydney.
- Key staff members from the Simulation Division are certified simulation instructors, having completed either the Centre for Medical Simulation (Harvard) Simulation Instructor's Course and /or the Stanford University, ACRM Instructors Course. Key staff instruct on greater than 80% of simulation-based courses.
- Visiting simulation instructors work closely with key staff; most have completed simulation instructor training provided by the SCSSC; and many have additional certifications in medical education, such as current APLS, ACLS or EMST instructor status.
Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
- Training provided by the SCSSC qualifies for CPD points with Australian Medical Specialist Colleges recognised by the Australian Medical Council.
Courses provided by independent training providers
- External groups hiring the centre are required to observe the SCSSC terms and conditions of use, including policies on privacy, confidentiality, permission to photograph and release multimedia, universal precautions, OH&S and code of conduct.
- While we endeavour to ensure that training provided by external groups is also delivered at a high standard we make no claim in respect to the content and standards of training delivered by external groups. Participants are advised to check the course fact sheet for all courses prior to booking.
