Facilities - Paediatric and newborn care training

Our simulation environments are also fitted out as a dedicated, "child friendly" paediatric facility, complete with children's manchester and toys and stocked with paediatric equipment, including a Broselow trolley, monitors, and ventilators. This enables the courses to use a "child focussed" approached which is an important element of paediatric clinical practice.

Thanks to generous donations from the Humpty Dumpty and Fairbridge Foundations and Katrina Leslie, we have an impressive family of high and low fidelity child, infant, and newborn simulators, enabling high and low fidelity simulation, along with workshop and tutorial format training. The facilities also allow for in-situ and Modular Mobile training.

  • Our paediatric courses are delivered by specialised paediatric instructors, most of whom are APLS instructors.
  • Training for newborn care including neonatal resuscitation is provided in the unit and also in-situ within the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, RNSH, in collaboration with the NICU team.
