Fellowships

The Sydney Clinical Skills and Simulation Centre offers fellowships for clinical personnel and simulation coordinators seeking professional development and career opportunities in simulation. The information provided below describes fellowships that are currently available for medical personnel working at a senior registrar grade. Additional medical fellowships and fellowships for personnel from nursing, allied health, defense (non-medical) and technical backgrounds become available periodically. Opportunities also exist for senior clinical and academic personnel to complete sabbaticals. Please contact us if you wish to inquire about completing a fellowship or sabbatical with us.

In general a simulation fellowship involves:

  • a structured program comprising graded workplace learning
  • supervised practice and
  • academic project work

and is completed over:

  • six months (full time) or
  • 12 months (half time)

although this can be modified depending upon circumstances and desired outcomes.

The Trauma and Defence fellowships can be undertaken in parallel with a Fellowship in medical retrieval offered by the Ambulance Service of NSW or Careflight organisations.

Each fellowship can be accredited as part of the incumbent's broader training program or certification requirements, if adequate time is afforded for prospective submission to the relevant training college, university or accrediting body.

The Emergency Medicine Fellowship and Trauma Fellowship are funded at the relevant grade within the NSW Junior Medical Officer Award up to a maximum of Senior registrar grade. The Defence Fellowship and Simulation Coordinator Fellowship are non-funded positions.
