The formats of these courses vary. Most courses involve scenarios with actors, and discussions and activities utilising videos. Courses for specific disciplines also incorporate immersive simulations.

Several of the courses are co-presented by the Pam McLean Centre, a communication training centre, led by Professor Stewart Dunn, Professor of Psychological Medicine, which is also located within the Kolling Building.
