Teamwork Training

Teamwork training for high acuity response teams using the "7 Team Tasks Approach"

Generally our emergency teamwork training courses have the dual aims to improve teamwork and to improve both the clinical management of patients within a specific discipline (E.g. Paediatric Emergency; Trauma in the Emergency Department), understanding that the two aims are integrated and inseparable.

Two educational frameworks are integrated:

  • A structured clinical approach adapted to each discipline
  • The "Teamwork ©" framework

The "Teamwork ©" framework focuses on team-based management of high acuity clinical presentations and the competencies required of the team as a whole. It has been developed by the SCSSC, drawing on literature-based evidence of teamwork from a range of sectors, and employed in our courses for nearly a decade.

The format of our high acuity teamwork courses are similar to that described for Crisis Management.

This key indicates the groups addressed by individual courses:

  • Key – groups addressed by each course
  • Critical care nurses [CCN]
  • Perioperative nurses [PON]
  • Multiprofessional audience [M#]

Courses include:

Teamwork for non-high acuity settings

  • We deliver tailor-made courses to groups from non-high-acuity settings using a variety of frameworks including the "Communicating for Patient Care©" framework and material used in our communication and professional skills courses. The "Communicating for Patient Care©" framework was developed at the SCSSC using evidence from a range of sectors including healthcare, project management and management. Make an enquiry.

Other courses addressing teamwork

  • Our CRM courses also address team-skills for teams in high acuity settings.
