Specialised surgical training resources

Where appropriate, real animal or human tissue is sourced for training that requires a sound understanding of anatomy or tissue composition. The SCSSC operates to the highest standards of ethical conduct and provides exceptional quality and dependable service. The following options are available at the centre:

  • The SCSSC holds a NSW Department of Health Anatomy Licence to conduct cadaveric workshops. Tissue for surgical training can be procured and prepared to meet client requirements. High quality, fresh frozen specimens are supplied from a reliable, well-documented source and are fully screened to ensure safety.
  • The SCSSC also holds Animal Ethics Licences for live surgical training. The Centre has access to the Kearns Large Animal Research and Education Facility operating rooms, which are interconnected with the Centre’s audiovisual system.
  • Animal tissue can be sourced from butchers for procedural training.
